Commitment and Dedication

Jason was born and raised in El Centro, California. He is a graduate of Imperial Valley College with an Associates in Criminal Justice Administration, and San Diego State University with a Bachelors in Criminal Law and a Master’s in Public Administration.

Jason spent four years as an El Centro Planning Commissioner before being first being elected to the El Centro City Council in 2011. Jason was re‐elected in 2015, and served as Mayor in 2016.

During his year as Mayor, he is resposible for the design and construction of the Veterans Memorial at Bucklin Park. Jason was also the author of Measure P, a half cent sales tax that funded El Centro’s new library, police department and funneled millions of dollars into our parks and recreation.

As a councilmember he has served on many committees and taskforces, including the Centinela Prison Advisory Board, United Way Emergency Food and Shelter Program, Public Safety Taskforce, Library Taskforce, Imperial County Airport Commission, El Centro Regional Medical Center Affiliation Taskforce, the Community Enhancement Taskforce, and the City Attorney Taskforce.

In 2013, Jason was elected by the Imperial County Mayor’s City Select Committee to represent all of the Imperial County cities as their representative on the Imperial County Local Area Formation Commission (LAFCO). Jason was elected to serve as the Chairman of the Commission in 2015, and 2020.

Jason also serves his community on many other commissions and boards. He has served on the Imperial County Workforce Development Board since 2006, and was elected to serve as the Chairman of the Board from 2007-2010,  from 2012 ‐ 2015, and again in 2022.

Jason is a believer of economic development in our region, and served on the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors since 2010. Jason was elected to serve as the chariman of the Board of Directors from 2022 through present.

Jason has also served on the Imperial County Film Commission since 2010, where he served as the Chairman from 2012 –2014. Jason is a member and Past President of the El Centro Kiwanis Club, Past Board member of the EL Centro Chamber of Commerce, and a lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, where he attained the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout in 1989.

Jason is the President and CEO of Southwest Protective Services, Inc., where he employees more than 260 local security officers in the Imperial and Coachella Valleys.
